AN ADDRESS
THAT STANDS APART

“Mirror Lake was made by nature the civic center of St. Petersburg, and the civic center of St. Petersburg it will forever be. St. Petersburg’s only need will be to preserve all the natural beauties and charms of Mirror Lake, place all the city’s public buildings and show places at strategic places around it, and watch it grow into one of the beauty spots of America.”

A LEGACY
REFLECTED

Inspired By Yesterday, Designed For Today.

Before Mirror Lake caught the imagination of urban planners and developers, it was called Weir Lake. Locals referred to it as Reservoir Lake until environmentalist Katherine Bell Tippets suggested the name Mirror Lake, inspired by the Lake George Mirror newspaper owned by her husband in New York.

Mirroring the growth of St. Petersburg, Mirror Lake evolved into a downtown centerpiece of the city. Today, most of what made Mirror Lake a vital neighborhood decades ago remains. The Mirror Lake Library, courthouse, churches, residences, and the iconic Shuffleboard Club still overlook the lake as they did a century ago, alongside a mix of residential homes and apartments.

Backstreets Capital is transforming the entire Cade Allen property by retaining its essence and honoring the city they love. After serving for many years as an office, the stone home at 250 Mirror Lake Dr N is being restored to its original grandeur as a single-family residence. The unique home was built by prominent developer and architect Cade Allen, who constructed more than 40 stone houses in the stunning Allendale neighborhood and a dozen others throughout the city.

Called “one of the most beautiful and luxurious” homes in the city in 1937, the restored house will be complemented by a new single-family home on the adjacent lot, along with The Cade, an intimate collection of just 15 exquisite, lake-facing condominium homes.

In a city bursting with charming neighborhoods and one of Florida’s best cultural scenes, Mirror Lake is poised for its own renaissance, ready to welcome those who want to preserve and make history.
